Why is the Bare BoxerTM preferred by most
backpackers planning weekend and 3 day hikes?
The Bare BoxerTM Contender model is the lightest and most
compact bear-proof food container in the woods! It's also the least expensive.
For longer trips you’ll want the Bare
BoxerTM Champ model. It will hold about a 1 week
supply of food for 1 person. The “Champ” is the lowest priced container in
it’s class!
Why do I need a "bear-proof" food container when I
go backpacking?
The law requires you to carry and store your food in an approved container
when you enter designated back country areas of National parks and forests
where bears may be present. The Bare BoxerTM has been tested,
approved and certified by the Sierra Interagency Black Bear Group (SIBBG)
and the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC) for use in both black
bear and grizzly bear habitat.
What makes the Bare BoxerTM different?
The Bare BoxerTM incorporates a patent pending, positive locking mechanism
made of food grade 316 stainless steel, that has been shown to be "the strongest mechanism available on
any approved bear-proof food container designed for use by backpackers."

fits nicely inside your back pack and will still easily carry enough for a three day supply of
